Back to Pubs

Welcome to the only pub in Britain called The India House.

Its official address is Barton Road but it is India Road, which runs alongside, that has probably given the pub its name. Actually, historians are unsure whether the road gave the pub its name or vice versa, but there is no doubt that it has long since been an important part of the local community.

The India House has long been an important venue for local boxers who still use the gym upstairs, though these days they also share it with kick-boxers. The pub's other favourite sport is skittles and it boasts a fine old alley.

This is another of those bustling, friendly 'locals' pubs which enjoys a steady stream of customers during the week and becomes even livelier at weekends. If you are looking for a quieter atmosphere and the sun is shining, the new courtyard garden is an alternative place to unwind.

But don't wait for an Indian summer before you sample The India House.
