Named after a family of local landowners, The Freke Arms was built in the early 1800's on the instructions of (then known) Henry Freke to entice the farm workers over from the nearby Quaker village of Stanton Fitzwarren.
Bought by Arkell's in 1892 and altered to it's present state in 1966, it still retains much of it's character of pubs of that era, one of it's main attractions with customers of all ages. Traditional food and a warm, friendly welcome are two more of the trademarks of this comfortable and genuinely unspoilt pub.
