The Crown Inn, Broad Hinton
When Arkell's purchased The Crown Inn in 1986 it acquired a former free house with an enviable reputation among drinkers and diners alike. It is still a place that people of all ages flock to in order to enjoy a relaxing, comfortable day out, whether they visit during the daytime or in the evening.
Close to one of Wiltshire's historic white horses at Hackpen, it is easily found, just off the main Swindon-Devizes road.
- 6 miles outside Swindon
- close to Hackpen White Horse
- large garden
- Sunday lunch
Undeniably pretty on the outside, The Crown Inn is just as attractive inside. It has a light and airy open-plan bar and a roomy, separate eating area where (according to the 1998 Good Pub Guide) "friendly, uniformed waitresses" serve "good home-cooked food, especially salads and puddings".
Just the place for a romantic dinner for two during colder months, The Crown Inn is even more popular during the summer months when the large garden with its fish pond, large bird aviary and play area attract families from over a wide area.
