Back to Pubs

The Coopers Arms is a good old-fashioned drinking pub - and proud of it. The front of the building dates from the early 19th Century but parts of the pub are even older making it a Grade II Listed building.

Every Arkell's pub has a character of its own and The Coopers has an atmosphere you couldn't reproduce. With a larger lounge and two smaller bars linked with serving hatches, this is the kind of place that pub traditionalists would travel miles for.

It's a thriving place, especially busy at weekends and even more so on nights when there is live music. But the pub is busy most of the week, just as you would expect from this type of pub which fulfills its duty as a community centre. You are just as liable to bump into members of the local folk club as the motorcycle enthusiasts or any of the several others clubs who meet here.

Right in the heart of Newbury, The Coopers Arms is as straightforward, honest and friendly as any pub you are ever likely to visit.
